Durante a veiculação da séries Buffy e Angel na TV, a editora Dark Horse publicava nos Estados Unidos as revistas Buffy the Vampire Slayer e Angel. As histórias foram todas reunidas em 7 volumes (BtVS), 3 volumes (Angel) e mais 1 volume com histórias com Spike; estas coleções são chamadas Omnibus. Todas as histórias não são consideradas canon (oficialmente aprovadas pelo criador Joss Whedon), exceto por The Origin. Já as Temporadas 8, 9, 10 e 11 (de Buffy e Angel & Faith) são aprovadas por Joss e portanto, canon.

The Origin reconta os acontecimentos do filme [Buffy, A Caça-Vampiros] (com Kristy Swanson), permanecendo fiel ao roteiro original escrito por Joss; uma das coisas que ele odeia no filme é a interpretação de Donald Sutherland (Merrick, o Sentinela de Buffy).

As revistas e as coleções nunca foram lançadas em português.
